ODSG partners firm on e-learning

The Ondo State  Government has partnered with  a private computer firm to bring education to the door steps  of students now at home due to COVID -19 .

The partnership has resulted into various educational broadcast on both Radio and Television across the state where different subjects were taught using whiteboard platform.

Speaking to newsmen on the relevance of the E-learning , the Director of  the  firm, Mr Lawrence Ehindero said that it became imperative in view of the Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s commitment to reposition education sector in the state.

He said E-learning will afford the pupils and students in the state to keep up with what they have lost during the impromptu holiday, adding that it will also add value to learning and teaching and will also encourage teachers at various level becomes ICT compliant.

According to him” the platform will  also ensure availability of comprehensive database for planning purpose, human resources and information management. While it will also to reduce to the barest minimum the issue relating to ghost teachers, students and pupils as they will have unique identification numbers and ensure proper tracing.”.

Speaking on the benefit of the platform to parents, students and pupils, Ehindero  said the portal will provide parents with instant access to information relating to their children, stressing that performance of students  and pupils could also be monitored on regular basis, while students and pupils are put on their toes from time to time.

Moreover, apart from E- learning module, he said Ondo state portal also contained result checker module, school survey, teachers records, attendance application and examination modules.

While appreciating the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Femi Agagu  for blazing the trial through the transformation of the sector, therefore called on parents and guardians to allow their children and wards to have access to their mobile phones in logging in to their individual school websites already captured into the cloud system mystudentupdate powered by Quickens  Computers LTD.

In his remarks, the Technical director of  the firm Mr Gideon Omoregha commended the state Government for being proactive in ensuring that students and pupils across the state are not affected academically in the face of the corona virus pandemic ravaging the whole world presently through the introduction of the E-learning, which he said will go a long way to sustain the academic Template and the revolution going on in the state through pragmatic Teaching and learning process.
