ODSG partners WHO on quality healthcare

Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (OSPHCDA) has collaborated with the World Health Organization to commemorate 2023 World Health  day.

Speaking at an  event organised to mark the day, Permanent Secretary, OSPHCDA, Dr Francis Akanbiemu said the state government under the leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu  would continue to ensure that all residents of the state enjoy qualitative health care delivery.

Dr Akanbiemu who was represented by the Director, Disease Control and Immunization, Dr Victor Adefesoye said the World Health Organization has remained, reliable, credible and viable partners in the healthcare system of the state, assuring  that the  Agency would always collaborate with the organization to ensure qualitative health is available at the nooks and crannies of the state.

Akanbiemu described living healthy as a task that must be accomplished, stressing  the need for all in the health sector  to collaborate and support the Government and  Partners to sensitise the people of the state on the importance of the day.

He therefore advised residents of the state to always take their health status seriously by going for regular health check, avoid self-medications and abide  by  advice of health Practitioners.

Also speaking,  State Coordinator of World Health Organisation, Dr Dele David said the day is commemorated yearly to ensure health for all categories of people, old or young, male or female, able or disabled, poor or rich as well as people with all forms of ailments.

According to him, primary, secondary and tertiary facilities are expected to provide qualitative medications at their respective facilities, noting that the World Health Organization would continue to support health sector  to secure minimum level of health for everyone.

April 7 of every year marks the celebration of World Health Day, from its inception at the first Health assembly in 1948 and since taking effect in 1950, the celebration has helped to create awareness of a specific health theme to highlight a priority area of concern for the world Health organisation.

The Year 2023 world Health organisation day with the theme: “Health For All”  marks the 75th year of the  celebration across the globe and in Ondo state   sensitization walk across some Streets in Akure metropolis  by staff of World Health organisation and Ondo State Primary Health Care  Development Agency  was the highlight of the event.
