ODSG partners ZL Global Alliance

Ondo state Government through ZL Global Alliance has restated its commitment to make the state cleaner and greener through pro-active management of the environment.

The Group Managing Director of ZL  Global Alliance, Bashorun Abiola gave the assurance during the mechanical channelisation of perennial Ala River with an excavator at Eyin Ala at Ayedun Quarters in Akure, the state capital.

Ala, the major river that transverses the length & breadth of Akure perennially over flow its banks destroying properties and rendering many homeless due to unwholesome inhuman activities such as dumping of refuses in drainages and building structures on wet land.

To address this peculiar menace professionally in all the major cities across the state and in line with global best practices, the Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu led Government awarded the job of management of solid waste to the company in the year. And ever since then the company, ZL Global Alliance had hit the ground running.

Speaking at the site of the commencement of mechanical channelization of Ala River, Bashorun Abiola who spoke through the Director of Akure office Prince Adebambo Faloye said the perennial menace can only be addressed if the residents imbibe basic culture of environmental cleanliness.

He further canvassed the need for residents to buy refuse bags and baskets and put their dirties for easy evacuation instead of the habitual practices of throwing wastes into drains and Ala Rivers especially when it rains.

Also speaking at the site, the Head Media office of ZL Global Alliance in Akure, Tobi Benjamin underscored the need for all residents to join hands with Arakunrin Akeredolu administration in his quest to make the state investors friendly which can only happen is a cleaner and greener environment.

Mr Benjamin who said his company will not let the Government of Ondo State down in its avowed commitment to make the state environmental friendly said the company enjoined the citizens to support the company in its mandate to make the state clean saying that health is wealth.

It is instructive to note that before the commencement of Mechanical channelization of Ala River, the company has commenced the desilting of the drainages in major cities across the state to stem the incidence of flooding and its attendant effect on human activities, especially lives and properties.

As at last count before Ondo state Government’s intervention through ZL Global Alliance, flood has taken over most parts of Akure, the state capital  especially when it  rains heavily thus destroying property worth millions of naira while hundreds were rendered homeless in its wake.

It is the belief of many that, if the current intervention could be sustained through public private partnership, a lasting solution to the perennial scourge might be in sight.
