ODSG pledges support for LG polls’ success

Ondo State House of Assembly has assured that it would support every move to ensure the success of the April 18 Local Government election in the State.
The Chairman house committee on local government and chieftancy affairs, Rev.Samuel Aderoboye gave the assurance when the Chairman, board members, and management of the Ondo State Independent National Electoral Commission (ODIEC) appeared before it yesterday.
Aderoboye noted that the essence of the meeting was based on the last week oversight function to the commission which was discussed later at the plenary, noting that the house is committed to ensuring credible poll.
The committee Chaiman posited that it is pertinent for the house to have a better understanding of the commission’s mode of operation, readiness, challenges, limitations and preparedness towards the coming election so as to be on the same page.
According to him, the committee will adequately report to the whole house its finding in order to achieve a common goal.
The house emphasised that ODIEC must come up with workable analysis on funding the election now that additional cost will be involved for public health on prevention of COVID-19 during the election to enable them to forge ahead.
Other lawmakers appreciated the courage of ODIEC Chaiman and,board members and management for utilising the available fund judiciously which is the back bone of the whole process.
They however charged the commission to do everything possible to ensure a successful poll as well as ensuring that ad-hoc staff training are done in segments to avoid overcrowding.
Earlier, the ODIEC Chairman, Prof.Yomi Dinakin has assured that everything is going on as planned in the timetable.adding that all is set for the election.
He assured that all precautionary measures will be put in place to avoid overcrowding, just as he said all materials will be available as regards public health .
