ODSG promotes 3,000 LG workers

The Ondo State Government has approved the promotion of over 3,000 local government workers across the 18 local government areas for the year 2024.
Addressing newsmen yesterday at the Akure South local government secretariat where workers from Akure South and Akure North local governments were accredited, Mrs. Ronke Ojo, Commissioner for Appointment and Posting, Ondo State Local Government Service Commission, who also represented the Chairman of the Commission, Mr Femi Idris, thanked the state Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for the yearly exercise.
Other local governments were designated to different centers .
Mrs. Ojo who noted that the yearly promotion could not have been possible without the goodwill and approval of the governor, advised the newly promoted workers to reciprocate the state government’s kind gesture by comporting themselves and being diligent in the discharge of their duties henceforth.
Also, the Acting Head of Administration, Mrs. Juliana Agunanna, noted that 485 workers from Akure South and Akure North local government areas benefitted in this year’s promotion exercise.
While describing the Ondo State Governor as a worker-friendly governor, she said, “We appreciate our governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. He is a man of his words. We get our promotion every year and our salary is also being paid promptly. May God continue to guide him.”
Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Soji Oluwatuyi, appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for following the footsteps of late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu by prioritising the welfare of local government workers.
He said, “When late Governor Akeredolu was campaigning, he promised to pay all our salaries and address the promotion of workers which he did. We thank Governor Aiyedatiwa for following the footsteps of his predecessor. He has paid our leave bonuses, the N35,000 wage award and has also promoted workers.”
Director-General of Services and Administration, Akure South local government, Mr Segun Olu-Aina, also thanked the State Government and the Local Government Service Commission for making the 2024 promotion exercise of local government workers hitch free, describing it as a key component of civil service which every civil servant looks forward to.
The NULGE chairman admonished workers to reciprocate the state government’s kind gesture through commitment to their duties.
