ODSG reaffirms commitment to food security

The Ondo state Government has reaffirmed its commitment to food security through collaboration with all farmers groups.
Speaking while playing host to executive members of the Ondo state Agricultural Commodities Association, the state commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Olayato Aribo stated that the ministry will ensure that all farmers in the state benefit from Federal Government interventions coming to the State.
Aribo who hosted both the immediate past and incoming executive of the farmers group, charged the leadership to make agriculture attractive to young people by seeing it as a lucrative business.
This , he expressed will help motivate and increase the number if youths into the business to reduce unemployment rate as well as replacing them with the aged farmers and make agriculture regain potential.
According to Aribo, the State would therefore able to tap into available opportunities to develop agricultural practices and make it more attractive to the youth.
He said all necessary efforts will be deployed to tap into available programmes so that farmers in the State would benefit from the Federal Government initiatives.
The Commissioner therefore urged all farmers’ associations to find ways of working together for the betterment of the people.
Speaking on behalf of the Association, the outgoing Chairman, Mr Gbenga Obaweya and the incoming Chairman, Abiodun Adejo, promised to cooperate and work with the state government to achieve food sufficiency in the State.
They said God has blessed the State with necessary environment suitable for all-round farming in the value chains of agricultural practices.
They also expressed the need for government to help in the area of irrigation which they said is vital aspect for all round production.
