Ondo State Government has temporarily shut down Igbatoro/Imafon road dump site due to its poor state.

Government said all waste deposition and tipping by Private Sector Participants (PSPs) in waste collection are to be done at the Aponmu proposed sanitary landfill site.

General Manager, Ondo State Waste Management Authority (ODSWMA), Mr. Fola Omowole disclosed this yesterday while speaking with The Hope in Akure shortly after an inspection visit to the Aponmu sanitary landfill site.

According to him, the dump site has been filled up with waste, adding that waste is being dumped outside the facility.

While stating that several complaints have been lodged by residents living around and who are plying the Igbatoro/Imafon Road, he said that, the company in charge of the site, ZL Global Alliance should commence remediation work on the site.

He added that government will consider the option of carrying out a major intervention work at the site before further use is permitted.
