ODSG succours Idanre tanker explosion victims

Victims of the February 18, 2023 petrol tanker explosion at Opa, in Idanre were yesterday presented cheques by the Ondo state government to cushion the effects of the mishap on them.

The State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa while presenting the cheques to the victims at Odode-Idanre, said the gesture was to identify with them.

The fire incident occurred when a petrol laden tanker tumbled leading to inferno that engulfed a petrol station, buildings, shops and other properties around Opasorun community in Idanre.

Aiyedatiwa who had earlier visited the scene pledged that the State Government would take immediate and comprehensive measures to stop re-occurence of the incident.

After moving round the scene of the incident, the Deputy Governor said, what happened was very unfortunate.

“On behalf of Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, I just want to plead with the good people of Idanre to be patient as the State Emergency Management Agency SEMA, is here to take stocks of what was lost and see what government can do to support the people,” he said.

“Don’t let this incident wear you down, it is an accident, and God will help all of us and this kind of thing will not happen again”

Ondo State Chairman of All Progressive Congress, APC, Mr. Ade Adetimehin thanked the Deputy Governor for the quick response to the victims’ plights and he advised that all should vote APC come this Saturday to show appreciation to Akeredolu.

Cross section of the victims who could not hide their feelings expressed appreciation to the State government for coming to their rescue.
