ODSG targets N600m revenue increase from biz premises

The Ondo State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Cooperative Services, Pastor Olusegun Aiyerin, has stated that the state’s revenue from business premises is projected to increase to six hundred million naira per annum.
The Commissioner stated this during the inauguration of the enforcement team on the registration of business premises in Akure.
In a press release by the Press Officer to the Ministry, Mrs. Adewumi Aderonke, it was noted that the Commissioner mentioned the Ministry had previously generated thirty-seven million naira annually, which has gradually risen to one hundred and seventeen million naira per annum.
He added that the Ministry has been repositioned to address revenue collection deficiencies from business premises.
According to the Commissioner, the enforcement team is a partnership initiative comprising government officials and private individuals tasked with capturing about one hundred and twenty-five thousand business premises in the Ministry’s database.
He clarified that the team’s assignment does not involve cash collection; rather, their role is to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the strategies to be deployed by the team and urged them to enhance the efficiency of business premises revenue collection operations.
Earlier in her remarks, the Consultant, Chief Bukola Oguntola, assured the Commissioner that the enforcement team would perform their responsibilities within the confines of the law.
Oguntola emphasized that the team would not engage in extortion and would ensure the public does not underpay their dues to the government.
The Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Toyin Oni, commended the initiative aimed at increasing state revenue, emphasizing its alignment with the REDEEMED agenda of the current administration.
She urged the enforcement team to carry out their duties diligently and conscientiously.
Also present at the meeting were Director of Commerce, Mr. Temitope Ikuyinminu; Director of Small Scale Industry, Mr. Segun Awodogan; Deputy Director of Commerce, Mr. Mike Dawodu; and other team members.
