Ondo State Government has appealed to members of Timber Traders Organisation (TTO), Ondo State chapter, to cooperate with government on policies that will bring development to the people of the state.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Mr Olayato Aribo, made the appeal at a meeting with members of the organisation in his office in Akure.
Aribo assured that the government will ensure a win-win situation in all policies put in place, stressing that there is no going back on the implementation of Out Turn Volume (OTV) method on allottees operation in allocated government forests.
He added that the policy was put in place to increase government revenue and that no allottee is given licence to work on any allocation permanently.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Oluwagbenga Akingbasote said the ministry is ready to cooperate with stakeholders to ensure adherence to laid down rules.
Speaking on behalf of other members, the Chairman of the organisation, Ayo Akinnadeju, promised that they are ready to work with the government because they are also part of the government.
He added that the organisation would come up with a workable position paper, which would help the government generate more revenue.
Akinnadeju stressed that whatever they put together, they are willing to discuss with the government in order to have a common resolution that would lead to a win-win situation as propagated by the commissioner.
