Ondo State Government has expressed commitment to the implementation of the tax clearance law of the federation.
The State Head of Service, Mr Dare Aragbaiye stated this while playing host to management of the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS).
Aragbaiye said tax clearance certificate will be a condition to consider before engaging in any form of business with the state government.
He charged the ODIRS to bring in those who are operating outside the tax net for more tax payers to be captured.
This, he noted, is the only way through which tax payers will not be over burdened.
According to him, the state population is enough to sustain a high internally generated revenue.
He, however, assured the ODIRS of the state’s continuous support trusting that ODIRS has the ability to sustain what is being done.
Earlier, the Chairman of ODIRS, Mr Tolu Adegbie said his organisation will soon commence issuance of tax clearance certificates to the people.
Adegbie declared that issuance of Tax Clearance Certificate was a provision of Section 85, Subsection 3 of Personal Income Tax Act (PITA) 2011 (as amended ) and section 39 of the Ondo State Revenue Administration Law 2018 .
