The Ondo State Government has promised to continue to collaborate with the Theatre Art and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria, (TAMPAN), to transform the nation’s economy through the entertainment industry.

The state deputy governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi made the commitment while addressing leaders of the association during a courtesy visit  to his office yesterday.

Ajayi who commended  members of the association for their various artistic performances, said the roles they play in national development are very vital and cannot be over-emphasized.

According to him, theatre artists through their profession not only help the people to live a guided life against all forms of social vices, but also ensure unity and peaceful co-existence among the people as well as boost the nation’s economy.

While pointing out that the state has the best cultural and event centre in the region, he urged them to take advantage of that and assured them of continued collaboration in the industry.

Earlier, the National President of TAMPAN, Bolaji Amusan (Baba Latin) had informed that the visit is unique as it is meant to cement the already existing relationship between the artists and the government saying the state government is artists friendly and has been very supportive.

He said his members are ever ready to partner with the government by using their celebrities status to promote the activities of the government and showcase its achievements to the world.

Speaking with the newsmen, the Director of Media and Publicity of the association, Yomi Fash-Lanso, said it is going to be a better entertainment synergy between the state chapter of the association and the government under the leadership of Governor Akeredolu who is a lover of arts.
