ODSG trains workers on standard accounting

Workers in Ondo State have been urged to equip themselves with appropriate information to achieve the goals and vision of the current administration for the local government system in line with global practice.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Adegboyega Adefarati stated this while declaring a two- day Training Workshop tagged: International Public Sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS) for Cashiers, Rates Officers, Store Officers and Trial Balance Officer of the local government

At the training held in Akure, the state capital yesterday, Adefarati urged all and sundry to strive as stakeholders to remouled the system in such a way that the prevailing sanity in the local government system in the state becomes so entrenched that same can never be put to flight again.

He charged  participants to be up and doing in the discharge of their duties saying government will not accept under performance from them. “Whom much is given much is expected”.

He added that the current administration will continue to provide conducive working environment for all workers in the public service of the state.

He said the state  government  shall ensure that training and retraining of personnel was always given a priority within the limit of available resources.

In his goodwill messages, the Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission, Mr Abiodun Akintade said the commission decided to embark  on the training of  key players in the area of revenue generation and financial management to tackle the changes across the globe in the area of administration of resources.

The resource person and the Auditor General of the Local Government, Mr Olusola Adaramola  affirmed that the training will improve the proficiency of the  participants.

“I can assure you that these participants will leave the training as better officers”

The participants said they are well equipped with the up-to-date information in international Public sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS) .

The workshop would in no doubt  improve our  proficiency in line with the global practices.
