The Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Olaolu Akindolire, has urged indigent students of the state in tertiary institutions across the country to urgently apply for the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

While speaking in Akure, the Commissioner said the State Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa, urged every indigent student of the state to benefit from the Federal Government Loan Scheme meant for students in tertiary institutions across the country.

The Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) was introduced by the Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and passed into law in June 2023, to ensure that no Nigerian student is denied access to education by providing succour to students in the payment of school fees.

In a statement by the Ministry’s DDI, Info and Media, Olaoluwa Meshack, Akindolire directed students to log on to the loan portal: nelf.gov.ng to register for the fund.

“Meanwhile, the disbursement of the loan to beneficiaries commences next week, and the Commissioner for Education is appealing to students of state origin to urgently register for the scheme,” Olaoluwa said.
