The Permanent Secretary of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB), Mr Festus Adewale Omomowo, has announced that the board will execute 125 projects as part of its 2024 action plan.

He made this known while addressing contractors and government agencies during the tender opening bid for the ODSUBEB 2024 action plan at the board’s office in Akure.

Omomowo stated that the projects include the construction of two new schools and three additional classrooms, including Early Childhood Care Development and Education (ECCDE) facilities. He also stated that 56 schools will undergo renovation, while six schools will have new toilet facilities.

Furthermore, he explained that perimeter fences will be constructed in 13 schools, and the board will provide 505 sets of teachers’ furniture and 280 sets of ECCDE furniture.

Additionally, boreholes and sanitation facilities will be provided in 20 schools.

Omomowo expressed gratitude to the state governor for his prompt approval of the 2024 action plan.

The State coordinator of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Mrs Olamike Adams, assured contractors of a transparent bidding process, emphasising that only qualified contractors would be awarded projects.

She commended ODSUBEB for completing previous projects and ensuring the payment of counterpart funds by the state government. “No abandoned projects in Ondo State,” she added.

Also speaking at the event, the Director of the Department of Procurement Management, Ondo State Bureau of Public Procurement (ODBPP), Mr. Samuel Oyebode, assured that the agency would oversee the bid opening to ensure transparency and adherence to procurement best practices.
