It was a moment of happiness for members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, following the presentation of  official vehicles to them by the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

The Governor, while presenting the brand new Kia Optima vehicles to the 16 lawmakers who were present at the ceremony held at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure said others who were not around would get theirs as soon as they turn up.

He described the vehicles as working tools, just as he charged the legislators to use them to accelerate their legislative functions.

“You will all recollect that when we came on board, I promised that the present administration will provide working tools for you. It doesn’t matter whether you are leaving or not. The truth remains that you deserve to have these cars. Today, we have fulfilled this promise.

“These vehicles are not meant for leisure, neither are they meant for pleasure, but purposely provided to aid your legislative duties”, he said.

The Governor attributed the delay encountered in acquiring the vehicles to logistic and other arrangements involved which was clear to the Lawmakers.

“This is the brand you all demanded for, and to me, it is better late than never. They are the vehicles you are entitled to the very day you were sworn-in.

“It is my greatest pleasure to present these vehicles to you and I appreciate you all for your understanding  and cooperation”, Akeredolu emphasised.

Speaking at the memorable occasion, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly,  Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun lauded the governor for keeping to his promise, assuring him that the legislative arm would continue to give him necessary support.

“Mr Governor, what you have done today is something we cannot forget in life and God will continue to be with you. We appreciate you and we appreciate your government. We will continue to support you because what you are doing today is remarkable”, Oleyelogun stated.

The battle to get official vehicles started under the last administration, generating serious issue between the Executive and the Legislative Arms of government.

Oleyelogun promised that the lawmakers will make judicious use of the vehicles to improve their legislative activities.

Other lawmakers including Mr Sunday Olajide, Mr Oluyede Feyide Olusola and Suleiman Kaseem commended the governor for fulfilling his promise to them.
