The Ògo Àkúré Mandate Group has mourned the death of three farmers who lost their lives in the tragic incident that occurred at Ala Igbatoro, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, describing it as a heartbreaking event that underscores the need for sustained community vigilance and cooperation.
In a condolence statement issued in Akure, the Convener of the group, Hon. Ayodeji DF Oluleye, expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved families and the people of Ala Igbatoro, praying for divine comfort and strength in their moment of grief.
According to him, the incident was a painful reminder of the security challenges facing rural communities and the importance of collective action in protecting lives and livelihoods.
“We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident at Ala Igbatoro. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and the entire community. We commend the swift response of security operatives and local authorities who have shown commitment towards ensuring justice for the victims,” Oluleye said.
He urged residents of Akure North and neighbouring communities to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could help prevent future attacks.
“Security should not be left in the hands of government alone. Every resident has a role to play by being vigilant and proactive. The safety of our farmers and rural dwellers remains crucial to food production and the well-being of society,” he added.
Oluleye reaffirmed the commitment of the Ògo Àkúré Mandate Group to peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and rural development initiatives designed to strengthen harmony and enhance security in Akure North and Akure South.
While appreciating the Ondo State Government, local security outfits, and traditional rulers for their continued efforts in maintaining peace and safety across rural communities, the group called for sustained collaboration between security agencies and the people to prevent a recurrence of such tragedy.
