Ogun festival: Council boss sues for peace

In order to forestall any breakdown of law and order during the forthcoming Ogun festival in Ondo town, the Chairman, Ondo West Local Government area, Mr Akinsulire Ebenezer has enjoined residents of the town to maintain peace during the festival.
A statement signed by the Director on Media and Publicity to the Chairman, Oyedele Abiodun said the chairman made the plea at a meeting with security and community stakeholders ahead of the annual festival later this month.
“Ogún festival is an annual tradition laced with Yoruba culture being practiced by Ondo Ekimogun people for over five hundred years.
He also assured residents of the town of maximum security of lives and properties during the festival and warned troublemakers against attempting to hijack the event.
He said “In line with laid down rules and regulations, Ogun adherents, traditionalists, culture enthusiasts, tourists and residents must ensure that they maintain peace and orderliness throughout the festival.
The meeting was attended by community leaders; Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Akintunde John Folajimi, the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Basiru Oluwole and Head of Local Government Administration, Akinde, representatives of the Nigerian Police Force, Amotekun Corps and various youth organizations across the community.
