Okitipupa council chair presents N6.3bn 2025 budget

expresses readiness to serve

In a significant move towards transparent governance and developmental planning, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Andrew Ogunsakin, has presented N6.3bn 2025 Appropriation Bill to the Legislative Council, led by the Leader of the House, Adeleke Dada.

The budget presentation, held at the Legislative Chamber, is a testament to Ogunsakin’s administration’s commitment to people-centred governance, fiscal responsibility, and accelerated grassroots development.

In his address, the chairman noted that the 2025 budget was carefully crafted to reflect the yearnings of the people, with strategic emphasis on critical areas that directly impact their lives.

“It is with a joyful heart that I stand before you today to formally present the year 2025 Appropriation Bill for your kind consideration and approval,” he said.

“This budget is not just a document; it is a roadmap for action, progress, and prosperity for our people,” he emphasised.

Observing the session, the Director of Budget Planning, Mr. Adelana Adesunloye, was  represented by Mrs. Olufunke Akinfe.

Also present at the session were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Orimisan Ogunyemi; the Secretary to the Local Government, Barrister. Femi Oladokun; the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Mr. Saka Kadri; the leadership of the Legislative House, including all councillors; the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Prince Adeoye Ojomo; Directors of various Departments; and representatives of the public.

The Leader of the House, Adeleke Dada, commended the chairman for the timely presentation and reiterated the readiness of the Legislative Council to give the budget a swift yet thorough consideration in the interest of the people.

With the budget presentation, the Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin-led administration sets the tone for a transformative 2025, with a vision of massive delivery and impact for the people.

In the same vein, the chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Andrew Ogunsakin, has reiterated his commitment to selfless service and impactful leadership.

He also declared his desire to serve wholeheartedly and leave behind a legacy that future generations would be proud of.

He made this known while presiding over the maiden edition of the Finance and General Purpose Committee (F&GPC) meeting, held at the Council Secretariat.

Addressing members of the committee, Hon. Ogunsakin emphasised the importance of transparency, accountability, and teamwork in achieving the administration’s developmental goals.

He charged all committee members to see their roles as a call to service, with the collective aim of transforming Okitipupa into a model of grassroots governance.

“This administration is people-centred. We are here to serve, and we must ensure that every decision we take aligns with the aspirations of our people. I want to serve diligently and leave a lasting legacy of progress and prosperity,” he said.

The meeting marked a significant step in setting the tone for the financial and administrative direction of the current local government leadership, as discussions centred on resource management, development planning, and the smooth running of council affairs.

 Ogunsakin reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, assuring that all communities under the local government will feel the impact of leadership in every sector.
