The chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Mr. Andrew Ogunsakin, has pledged to collaborate closely with security agencies to accelerate grassroots development and ensure the security of lives and property within the community.

Ogunsakin made this commitment during a recent visit to the 19 Battalion Barracks in Okitipupa, where he emphasised the importance of maintaining a peaceful and secure environment as the foundation for sustainable development.

He praised the Nigerian Army for its unwavering dedication to peacekeeping and commended the leadership of the 19 Battalion for its continued support for civil governance.

“Our administration recognises the critical role of the military in safeguarding lives and property. This visit is aimed at strengthening our partnership in addressing security challenges while exploring joint efforts to drive meaningful development,” Ogunsakin stated.

The chairman also highlighted key areas of focus for his administration, including youth empowerment, rural infrastructure, and educational support, urging the military to remain a strong partner in fostering a conducive environment for progress.

In response, Major E.O. Morakinyo of the 19 Battalion reaffirmed the Battalion’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability across the local government area and assured continued cooperation with the council in advancing development initiatives.

“Consider the barracks as part of the broader community in the council’s intervention programmes,” Major Morakinyo said.

In a related development, security agencies in Okitipupa have further strengthened their collaboration towards efficient service delivery in the area.

The newly appointed Divisional Officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Okitipupa, CSC Adewumi Akeredolu, emphasised the importance of inter-agency cooperation during a visit to the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigerian Correctional Centre in the area.

Akeredolu explained that the visit was part of his office’s commitment to fulfilling the mandate set by the State Commandant. He assured that the agencies would work together to enhance security and contribute to the overall development of the community.

“We will ensure that the mandate given to us by our superior authorities is effectively delivered. We have agreed to collaborate closely to ensure the security of lives and property in the area,” Akeredolu said.

Both the council and security agencies are focused on fostering a unified approach to development and security, with the aim of improving the well-being of Okitipupa residents.
