An Akure born certified Nigeria Institute for Sports (NIS) football coach, Olasunkanmi Richard Olajuyin has said his major dream was to become the first black coach to manage one of the top teams in Europe leauge.
He stated this in an interview with Sporting Hope in Akure ,the state capital.
Olajuyin said with God on his side and with prerequisite qualifications, he is going to alter the status quo in Europe top flight.
He added that he is not rushing his way out of the country, I don’t mind starting from the grassroots here in Nigeria or any African country, but the target remain to manage one of the five top clubs in Europe which I’m pursuing vigorously.
He revealed that while some of his mates are dreaming of becoming great footballers, he was thinking of how to become a great coach like CAF winning coach ,Kadiri Ikahna, Arsene Wenger, Alex Ferguson. Those were the coaches I look up to.
“In fact, I used to tell my friends as a kid, that one day I will be the one to sign them as a football coach, so becoming a coach isn’t happenstance but inborn, I love coaching, I have passion for it , it makes me happy I have no doubt in me that I will be great in the job.”
“After my first degree at Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), I got admission into NIS to satisfy my conscience and to make my dream of becoming a certified coach come through.”
He said “God on my side I will soon go back to school for higher certificate that will qualify me in both Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and CAF competitions.
My first experience as a coach was at Adeyemi College of Education, when I took their female team to Pre- Nigeria College of Education Games (NACEGA) and I ensured their qualification for the game proper before for the first time in almost 15 years, before the outbreak of coronavirus that made the organisers called it off.
