Nigerian boxing legend and National Coach with the Nigeria Boxing Federation, Adura Olalehin, has visited Kano State on a condolence visit to the state government and the families of the victims who died in the tragic accident that claimed the lives of 22 members of the state’s contingent returning from the National Sports Festival.

During his visit to the office of the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Gwarzo, Olalehin commiserated with the people of the state, saying, “This is not a good time for Kano State. I believe, by the grace of God, such a tragedy will not happen again.”

He said the entire Nigerian Boxing Federation, under the leadership of General Minima, was deeply saddened by the incident, especially considering its impact on the otherwise hugely successful outing at the festival in Ogun State.

Olalehin also visited the families of the deceased and injured athletes, donating ₦200,000 to each family. He shared in their grief and prayed for them to have the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“These are trying times for everyone in Kano and Nigeria at large. But what can we do? God giveth, and He taketh. We pray that Allah strengthens you in these difficult times,” he said.

Deputy Governor Gwarzo appreciated the delegation for the visit and prayed for their safe return to their respective states.

Members of Adura Olalehin’s delegation included Head Coach of the Ondo State Boxing Association, Moses Osifor; Coach Alice from Nasarawa State; and Coach Olopade from Abuja.
