Oleyelogun receives COVID-19 vaccine

The Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun has assured residents of the state that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe.
Oleyelogun gave the assurance in Akure when he took the first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine dose.
Others that took the jab were principal officers, members, aids and top civil servants in the House.
He encouraged all and sundry to take their health issues seriously by taking the jab which according to him, has no side effects.
The Speaker affirmed that COVID-19 is real, hence the need for residents of the state to be immune against the deadly infection.
Speaking, the Chairman, House Committee on health, Dr Abiodun Faleye hinted that new infection was recorded in the House as some legislators (about four) contracted COVID-19 infection, noting that they will later take the vaccine after they have been properly treated.
Also, the Chairman House Committee on Information, Youth and Sports Development, Mr Olubenga Omole posited that, so far so good, he has no adverse effects from the vaccination, adding that as people mingle daily with others, there is need to get vaccinated.
The Director, Primary Health Care Authority, PHCA, Akure South, Dr Adeyemi Osowe-Omosehin informed that in line with the laid down guidelines, the eligible population for the COVID-19 vaccination is citizens aged 18 years and above.
Omosehin assured that the vaccine is very safe and effective, urging people to disregard rumours making the rounds about the jab. “Since we started in the local government, we have not recorded any side effects. We must put the pandemic at bay by ensuring people get vaccinated.”
He said the vaccination is in four phases, with the first recipients as frontline health workers, COVID-19 rapid response team, laboratory workers, petrol station workers, policemen, and strategic leaders.
According to him, in the phase two, the recipients will be older adults aged 50 years and above; those with medical conditions aged 18-49 years, while phase 3 and 4 will be other eligible population.
