The pioneer Secretary of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Otunba Dele Ologbese has advocated for the Inclusion of domestic league players in the Nigeria senior national team.

Ologbese said the Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro should look inward by giving opportunity to the exceptional players in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to be part of the squad.

The former Vice Chairman of Ondo State Football Association, FA, stated this in a chat with Sporting Hope in Akure the state capital.

He added that the continued snubbing of the domestic league players by the handlers of the Super Eagles is not good and it’s tantamount to killing their dreams.

He said: “If we want Nigeria football league to develop, chances must be given to the exceptional players among them in the Super Eagles, we have a lot of good players in the league who can perform creditably well.”

“The contribution of domestic players in ensuring that Nigeria won the African Cup of Nations for the third time in 2013 can not be erased from our memories.

” Godfrey Oboabana, Sunday Mba, Chigozim Agbim, Gabriel Reuben, Ejike Uzoenyi Azubuike Egwueke and others performed beyond our expectations in the tournament.”

“It was home based player, former Enugu Rangers attacker, Sunday Mba that won the 2013 Nations Cup for Super Eagles when he scored Nigeria’s lone goal in the final against Burkina Faso, while another home boy from Sunshine Stars, Godfrey Oboabana marshalled the back line along side, Efe Ambrose, Keneth Omeruo, Elderson Echiéjilé.”

The Akoko South West Football council Chairman, averred that Super Eagles can lift the African Cup of Nations for the fourth time, saying they are fighting towards reenacting the 2013 winning spirit with their triumph over the highly rated Ivory coast.

According to him, “Super Eagles should not be complacent when they face Guinea Bissau today (Monday), the victory of the host nation should not come over their heads, they must approach the game like it’s final

” The coach must equip the team physically, mentally, emotionally and tactically in order for them to devour their opponents, I urged the team to win the AFCON for the fourth time.”

“The Nigeria Football Federal (NFF) should continue to give Super Eagles the needed motivation and encouragement throughout the competition.

“It must give strong backing to its handlers to perform extraordinarily. All the outstanding bonuses and entitlements of both players and officials must be paid in full before the next match against Guinea Bissau”, Ologbese said.
