The Olowo of Owo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III has performed his first official traditional duty as an Oba barely 48 hour after his coronation as he conferred chieftaincy titles on some indigenes of the town.

Among the first set of recipients was a Lagos- based businessman and philanthropist, Chief Adebayo Abiodun popularly known as ‘Abbey ShopRite’.

Mr. Adebayo who had earlier taken a title as Sobaloju of Iyere, Owo, was installed as Adafin Olomiyete of Iloro-Owo.

The brief ceremony which was witnessed by family members, friends, Iloro Chiefs and prominent Owo indigenes was colourful as it once again showcased the best of tradition and culture that the ancient town is known for.

The highlight of the occasion was when  Ogunoye for the first time addressed the public where he expressed his appreciation for the roles played by the people of Owo especially those who participated in his successful selection, installation and  coronation.

The monarch however implored families wishing to present candidates to occupy vacant traditional chieftaincy titles of their families to be thorough and sincere in the selection process to avoid any rancour whatsoever.

Speaking with The Hope, the newly installed Adafin Olomiyete, Chief Adebayo Abiodun appreciated Oba Ogunoye for the gesture and thanked his family for standing by him which made the installation rancour free.
