The Olowo of Owo, Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, has ordered the indefinite suspension of the Osere of Ehin-Ogbe Quarters of Owo, Chief Ololade Olanipekun.

The suspension clamp down was contained in a release signed by the Special Assistant to Oba Ogunoye on Media, Sam Adewale, was said the Chief was suspended for not according the Olowo, the complete and necessary traditional complementary greetings.

According to the letter of the suspension, signed by the Administrative Secretary of the Olowo, Chief Amos Aladeseye, on behalf of Olowo -In- Council, Chief Olanipekun is to face indefinite suspension for failure to accord complete traditional complimentary greetings to the Crown, refusal to follow the tradition as an ‘Edibo Ologho’, coupled with unruly behaviour during the Olowo-in-Council’s meeting .

The letter read in part: “Chief Osere was given opportunities to exculpate himself of blame concerning his misbehaviour through a query and subsequent panel of inquiry on the issue. Rather, he continued his justification for these odious actions, for which he even opened another trajectory by misrepresenting the cherished history and tradition of the kingdom.

“The Council, having discovered that no element of remorse or apology was exhibited by Chief Osere for the rape of the valued tradition and culture of the kingdom was left with no choice than to approve his indefinite suspension as a titled Chief of Owo .

“The suspension is with immediate effect, without reservation (s) in relation to the Osere Chieftaincy and as it concerns the Headship and Management of the Ehin-Ogbe Quarter.

Trouble started for the embattled Chief on April 13, 2022, when he refused to give the Olowo, the traditional complementary greetings.

According to palace sources, in an attempt to correct the suspended Chief, he flared up and refused to hearken to all attempts to make him do so.

A query was issued by the office of the Olowo asking Chief Olanipekun to defend himself.
