Ondo 2020: Akoko monarchs adopt Akeredolu for second term

Traditional rulers in the four local government areas of Akoko land have unanimously endorsed the Ondo state governor and candidate of the APC, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, as their sole candidate for the October 10 governorship election.
The monarchs who adopted the governor at their meeting known as ‘Pelupelu’ held at the Palace of the Olubaka of Oka land, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, promised to work assiduously to ensure his landslide victory come October 10 governorship poll.
Pelupelu is a periodic meeting of conference of Akoko Obas where they chart the way forward for the unity, peace and development of their communities and the Akoko land in general.
Addressing traditional rulers and other personalities present, the Chairman Chieftaincy Committee of Akoko South West Local Governmen and the Olubaka of Oka, Oba Adeleye who noted that Akoko Obas have greater role to play towards the re-election of the governor, equally maintained that Governor Akeredolu has done so well in providing dividends of good governance to the people not only in Akoko land but across the state.
He said the people of Akoko are also mindful that the administration has constructed many roads, upgraded health facilities in Akoko, renovated and constructed some public primary schools in Akoko and other parts of the state, among other developmental projects.
Oba Adeleye while appealing to all political parties not to see the forthcoming governorship poll as a do-or- die affairs commended the action of the governor in the establishment of Amotekun Corps in the South West.
“Aside the fact that the entire Ondo State traditional rulers have adopted Mr. Governor for another four year term in office, the Akoko Council of Obas has greater role to play in appreciation of Mr Governor in the provision of dividends of democracy to our people.
“Apart from the massive repair carried out on the Owo-Ikare road, “Oke Alabojuto”, “Iwaro-Oke Oka, and other roads in Akoko, the rate of accidents occasioned by these bad roads had been brought under control.
“We are also mindful that the State Government had upgraded our health facilities renovated and also constructed reasonable number of classrooms in our educational institutions across the state and Akokoland in particular”, he said.
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Akeredolu appreciated the monarchs for adopting him with assurance that he will not let them down in providing good governance for the people.
While acknowledging the fact that Ikare is the commercial capital of the Akokos the governor explained that this was what necessitated him to bring the notorious Oke Alabojuto down and dualize the township road with many more in the pipeline.
He said his reelection is for the interest of the people of Owo and Akoko as well as all towns in the Northern senatorial district hence the need for them to support his quest to return for continuity of his works to be sustained.
Governor Akeredolu promised not to betray the trust reposed in him by the traditional rulers.
The meeting was attended by Governor Akeredolu, the Senator Representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, former Deputy Governor in Ondo State, Alhaji Alli Olanusi, two members of Ondo State House of Assembly from the area and some members of the State Executive Council from the area.
