The Speaker of the house, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun ,while speaking during a meeting organised by the ODHA with the executives and members of the state National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) ,stressed the need to ensure a peaceful poll.
Oleyelogun dismissed the rumours making the rounds that members of the Union invaded the premises of the assembly complex, noting that the NURTW members were in the house to honour the invitation letter written to them for a meeting.
The Speaker said that it became imperative to call the Union, as one of the key stakeholders and sensitise them on the need to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner before, during and after the election.
Oleyelogun who posited that it was not the first time of organising such meeting, said that as the election is approaching, it is their duties, as representatives of the people to call meetings with major stakeholders and brainstorm on how to ensure a peaceful poll.

The Lawmakers who lauded the leadership of the union for its peaceful disposition to matters ,enjoined them to continue to tow the line of peace as being witnessed in the state.
They assured that the assembly will always support them as long as they are doing what the government and the people wants.
Responding, the State Chairman of the Union, Mr Jacob Adebo equally affirmed that they were in the assembly for a meeting, contrary to speculations that they invaded the premises, affirming that they are not thugs ,but responsible family men.
He assured the lawmakers that his members will continue to be peaceful as the Union leaders has always advocated.
Adebo , said gone are the days when the Union was violent, emphasising that since the inception of the present administration, NURTW in the state has witnessed a peaceful co existence, while many of the opposition have joined their camp due to the unprecedented achievement of the state government.
