The Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has paraded 38 suspects arrested for various criminal offences, including kidnapping, murder, vandalism of government property, and illegal immigration across the state.

Commander of the Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Akure on Tuesday.

According to Adeleye, the arrests were made during a series of coordinated operations by the Corps’ zonal commanders, coordinators, and divisional officers across the state.

He emphasised that the operation reflects Amotekun’s renewed commitment to ensuring peace and safety in Ondo State, which remains one of the most secure in the country.

“Today marks another milestone in our efforts to rid Ondo State of criminal elements. We have 38 suspects on parade, including two for kidnapping, two for rape-related cases, and several others for vandalism and illegal migration,” Adeleye stated.

The commander revealed that a syndicate responsible for vandalising government machinery was apprehended after a gun duel with Amotekun operatives. The suspects, who were caught with caterpillar parts, engines, tyres, and gas-cutting tools, reportedly opened fire on the security operatives but were subdued without casualties.

Adeleye added that the Corps also arrested a man posing as a military officer in connection with the recent murder of two men in the Ago-Dada area of Akure. The suspect, found in military camouflage, has been handed over to the appropriate military authorities for verification.

“We also arrested a spy who worked with kidnappers to alert them whenever security agents were approaching. He has confessed to his role in the recent gruesome murder and kidnapping cases in the area,” the commander disclosed.

Furthermore, Amotekun intercepted 22 illegal immigrants from Benin Republic and Togo, who were unable to provide valid reasons for their entry into Nigeria. They have been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and possible repatriation.

Recovered items from the suspects include tricycles, taxis, and gas-flaring equipment allegedly used to convey stolen government property.

Adeleye reaffirmed that Ondo State remains safe for law-abiding residents but warned that it will remain “unsafe for criminals.”

“Ondo State is not a place for criminals to thrive. Head or tail, Amotekun will catch you. The best advice is to stay away from crime,” he warned.

The suspects, including Aderemi (35), Victor, Etok (45), and Mustafa, among others, are currently undergoing further investigation and will be charged to court accordingly.
