Officers and men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, have embarked on a one-day training exercise in collaboration with the Nigeria Police, Army and Civil Defence, aimed at enhancing their operational capabilities and improving the state’s security architecture.
The training, which took place at the Amotekun headquarters in Alagbaka, involved officers and men from all 18 local government areas of the state.
In a bid to ensure a more secure environment, the corps has expanded by establishing additional area commands in some crime-prone communities.
Two more area commands have been added, bringing the total to eight.
The new commands are the Alagbada Area Command and the Ose 2 Ifon Area Command, both identified as high-risk zones.
Their establishment aims to strengthen grassroots security efforts across the state.
Speaking with The Hope Metro after the training session, the Commander of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, stated that the initiative provides an avenue to foster better collaboration with sister security agencies in the state.
He explained that the training was designed to equip officers with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively cooperate with other security agencies and build strong working relationships.
“During the training, some gallant officers were recognised and rewarded.
“We also expanded our operational divisions. Before now, we had six Divisional Area Commands; with the addition of Alagbada and Ose 2 Ifon we now have eight,” he said.
The Commander emphasised that the expansion is intended to bring security operations closer to the grassroots, ensuring more effective coverage of crime-prone areas for a safer Ondo State.
Addressing his men, he noted that with enumeration now being handled by the state government, more is expected from the officers in terms of service and dedication.
“I commend them for their bravery and gallantry. Our mission is to make Ondo State safe, no to kidnapping, no to robbery.
“We are working towards making the state a safe haven for all,” he concluded.
