The Elders’ Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ondo State chapter has expressed its strong belief and supports for the State Executive Committee of the party led by the State Chairman Mr. Ade Adetimehin, saying that there is only one party executive as affirmed by the recent court judgement and the elders’ caucus led by Senator Nimbe Farukanmi.
The party in the state affirmed its belief in the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Executive Committee of the party, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN).
This is contained in a communique issued by the party after the Elders’ Caucus meeting of the party in the state held at the party’s secretariat early this week.
At the meeting, the party discussed the recent pronouncements by an estranged group led by the former Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Ali Olanusi on the group’s call for the dissolution of the State Executive Committee.
The Elders decried the statement credited to the group and wondered why any committed member of the party in the state in his right senses would call for the dissolution of a performing State Executive Committee.
The Elders’ Caucus resolved that what Olanusi and his group did amounted to gross anti-party activity, therefore, calling for appropriate sanction.
The statement explained that Alhaji Olanusi, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke and their group never believed in the APC, and didn’t work for the party during the last governorship election in the State.
It described their claim of the controlling over 80 percent of the APC voting strength in the state as false.
“That the group leader Alhaji Olanusi, is aggrieved because Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu refused to part with more money, having paid to him the sum of one hundred and forty seven million naira as his entitlements in line with a Court Judgment.
“That the group neither believes in the party, nor attend meetings in their respective wards and local governments”.
It added that since the inception of APC in the state, Senator Farukanmi has been elected as the Chairman of the Elders Caucus in line with the constitution of the party as against the strange Concerned Elders Forum of Alhaji Ali Olanusi.
The elders’ caucus advised members of the group to retrace their steps and return to the fold, so that they can work together for the party’s victory in the forthcoming general elections.
