The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for what it described as his exceptional commitment to the welfare of civil servants and retirees in the state.
In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye, the party lauded the governor for flagging off the payment of ₦1.4 billion as gratuities and other retirement benefits to retirees in Akure, describing the move as commendable.
The APC noted that the initiative, which came shortly after the payment of leave bonuses to serving workers, reflects the governor’s uncommon dedication to the well-being of the state’s senior citizens.
“The commitment of the state government under Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to the welfare of civil servants and retirees deserves commendation. It is clearly an uncommon focus on the well-being of our senior citizens,” the statement read.
The party further praised the governor’s “deep interest and dedication” to improving the living conditions of both active and retired workers, stressing that the benefits to the state and its citizens are numerous.
“Civil service remains the engine room of government. One effective way to motivate those in service is to assure them of their benefits at retirement. This boosts confidence in the system, reduces post-retirement health challenges, promotes a better quality of life after years of service, and discourages corrupt practices,” the APC added.
The party also urged retirees to reciprocate the government’s goodwill by supporting its development efforts through active participation in community initiatives and by offering professional advice that could enhance the state’s growth.
