‘Ondo APC has no intention to impose aspirant’

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ondo State chapter has described as an unfortunate the protest by when some party members that were not well informed on what they termed ‘imposition’ of candidates ahead of local elections in the state.

Some members of the party protested to the party secretariat in Akure, the State Capital last week.

According to a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Alex Kalejaye said the party does not, and has no intention to impose any aspirant.

It stated that “we know the implications of crude imposition of candidates on the party, and the people such aspirants hope to represent.

“It is worth to note that the Ondo State chapter of the Congress has merely allowed the process to run its course in the state and candidates emerged.”

The statement explained that the party is not unaware of the importance of democratic options that would promote cohesion, and foster unity in the party.

The party appealed to its members and teeming supporters in the State to exercise robust understanding and remain hopeful that the leadership of the party will always act within the confinement of the party’s constitution.
