The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has strongly dismissed what it described as “baseless and incendiary” allegations made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the state’s security situation.

In a statement issued by the APC Director of Media and Publicity, Steve Otaloro, the party emphasised that the current security challenges are part of broader national issues being seriously addressed by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Otaloro affirmed that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa remains unwavering in his commitment to the safety of Ondo residents.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa has taken decisive steps to confront security threats, including empowering the Amotekun Corps and other security agencies to intensify their operations,”

“These measures reflect a proactive and strategic approach to community safety, not the collusion or negligence suggested by the PDP.”Otaloro stated.

The APC accused the PDP of engaging in “political desperation,” describing their recent claims as fabrications intended to stir panic and mislead the public.

“Rather than contributing constructively, the PDP has chosen to peddle exaggerations and exploit tragedies for political mileage. This is both irresponsible and deeply disrespectful to those affected by the violence,” the statement added.

The ruling party highlighted the success of the Amotekun Neighborhood Watch initiative in fostering community vigilance and collaboration with law enforcement, noting it as a key part of the state’s long-term security strategy.

The APC also rejected casualty figures released by the PDP, calling them “exaggerated and misleading,” and urged the opposition to embrace a more responsible approach to politics.

“We remind the PDP that they are stakeholders in this state’s peace and security. Governor Aiyedatiwa will not be distracted from his constitutional duty to protect lives and property,” it noted

The APC called on all political parties and citizens to unite in the collective mission to build a safer Ondo State, rising above partisanship for the greater good.
