Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State said that formal approval has been given for the recruitment of new teachers in the state.

Governor Aiyedatiwa stated this during the commissioning of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Shopping Complex, located along Oda Road in Akure, the state capital.

Governor Aiyedatiwa said teachers are very resourceful and innovative, saying destinies have been placed in their hands and they must live up to expectations.

While thanking the leaders of the union for their massive support for his administration, he commended them for embarking on the project, noting that it will no doubt outlive them and add value to the economy of the state.

The Governor also promised to donate a bus to the union just as he reeled out some of his administration’s efforts to make life easy for workers.

Governor Aiyedatiwa applauded the maturity exhibited by the NUT and other labour unions in the state for their responsible conduct, noting that their maturity has contributed to the maintenance of industrial peace and harmony within the state.

“As we are all aware, the major objective of any labour union is advocating better working conditions and improved welfare for their members, and this duty must be done with all sense of responsibility.”

“Be rest assured that as an administration, we would not shy away from performing our basic responsibilities to all our workers. We would continue to pay salaries as and when due, give them their promotions and other incentives towards improving their welfare,” he added.
