The Ondo State House of Assembly, has screened and confirmed the appointment of two commissioner-nominees sent by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for approval.

In the same vein the House also approved the request of the Governor to appoint ten Special Advisers.

The two commissioner-nominees sent to the House are Dr Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, from Akoko South East Local Government, and Mrs Omowunmi Isaac from Owo Local Government.

They were confirmed today, Wednesday, at a plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House, Chief Olamide Oladiji.

In his ruling, the Speaker of the House, Oladiji, announced the ratification following the submission and approval of recommendations and the adoption of the lawmakers through a voice vote.

Earlier, the House had conducted a screening exercise for the nominees in the morning at the Assembly complex.

The Governor of the state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, had previously forwarded their names to the Assembly for screening and approval.

The Clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin, read the letter of request sent to the House by the state governor for consideration of the nominees.

Presenting the report to the House at plenary, the Deputy Speaker, Prince Abayomi Akinruntan, said the nominees responded to all questions raised by the Committee in a very eloquent and explicit manner.

He noted that they have a clear understanding of their positions, adding that they possess the required academic qualifications and are physically, mentally, and emotionally stable and fit to accomplish the task.

The report also stated that they have the necessary experience, charisma, and exposure to function effectively as commissioners.

The Majority Leader of the House, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, had earlier moved a motion for the report to be considered and for the nominees to be confirmed as commissioner designates. This was seconded by a lawmaker representing Irele Constituency, Dr Christopher Ogunlana.

Before the confirmation, lawmakers from the nominees’ local governments read their profiles, spoke highly of them, attested to their competence to function effectively, and commended the governor for making the right choices.

The Speaker of the House, Oladiji, stated that the exercise was in line with the constitution and urged the new commissioner designates to work with the governor to advance the state.

While congratulating them, he encouraged the designates to contribute their quota to the development of the state and its people.

Speaking on behalf of the designates, Dr Ajulo expressed appreciation and pledged not to disappoint the governor, the lawmakers, and the citizens of the state.

He assured that they would bring their experience to bear for effective service delivery, saying it marked the beginning of new initiatives to bring change and add value.
