By Kemi Olatunde

Efforts are underway to ensure that residents of Ondo State enjoy quality healthcare delivery in secondary facilities across the state.

The Chairman of the Hospitals’ Management Board (HMB), Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, stated this while speaking shortly after a facility tour of the State Specialist Hospital, Oke-Aro, Akure, on Thursday.

According to him, the board has been established to ensure that patients receive the best care from committed health workers, noting that the government is taking necessary steps to reduce the migration of health workers from both the state and the country.

While commending the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the facility, Dr (Mrs) Patricia Eniowo, for service improvements through her support, he stated that the exercise aimed at conducting on-the-spot assessments of secondary facilities, which, according to him, is ongoing to improve the health sector.

He indicated that the recruitment of both clinical and non-clinical staff would be prioritised to complement the current workforce in the hospitals, adding that the training and retraining of staff, which would enable them to keep up with best practices, would also be prioritised.

The board, according to Fasoranti, would ensure staff security, supply chain maintenance, increased support from development partners, as well as the monitoring and evaluation of all activities.

The facility’s CMD, Dr (Mrs) Patricia Eniowo, while commending the state Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, for his investments in the health sector, called for further infrastructural development at the facility.

Other board members present included Dr. Taiwo Adefunrin, Mrs. Aarinola Adamolekun, and Dr. Rotimi Wilson.
