Ondo athletes endorse Akeredolu for second term

By Femi Atolagbe

The Ondo State Sports Council Athletes have unanimously endorsed the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for a second term in office.
In a release signed by their coordinator, Tosin Olajubutu, the Athletes hinged their decision to endorse the Governor on his averred commitment to the development of all Sports in the state.
“The Governor has proved to us beyond reasonable doubt that he is a sports loving governor and a Pilar of support to us.
According to the statement, “the Governor is magnanimously enough to support us financially and approved the participation of the State athletes in all National and local competitions, both at senior and junior levels.”
“Despite the paucity of funds in the state, the governor ensured the state did not missed the National Sports Festival in Abuja in 2018 and facilitated subsequent participations of the state at the National Youth Games held in Ilorin last year.
“We felt it’s good for us to appreciate the kind gesture of the governor by making him our sole candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in the State.”
The Governor apart from supporting us financially at the national competitions has being able to pay wages and bonuses owed by the immediate past Administration.
“We understand how the coronavirus pandemic has dealt with the economy of the government both at the national and at the state levels.
However, we are using this medium to appeal to our amiable governor to look into our remaining wages and bonuses for immediate action,” the statement urged.
