The Chairman of the newly constituted board of Ondo State Badminton Association, Olu Adekunle Ajanaku, has promised to prioritise the welfare of its coaches and athletes during his tenure.

Ajanaku stated this at the inaugural meeting, contained in a press statement made available to newsmen by Secretary of the Association, Mrs Olarewaju Omolade on Tuesday in Akure.

He said it would also enhance the game at the grassroots level by appointing auxiliary coaches at zonal levels to discover more talents.

The chairman disclosed that the association was planning partnership with schools to ensure Badminton is taken to Schools in all the senatorial districts in the state.

According to the chairman, three committees were approved to help achieve implementation of the plans, which are; Technical/Marketing and Promotion committees.

Others are; Mobilisation/Welfare/Tr-acking committee with Media and Public Relations Committees.

“The board resolved to see welfare of players and enhance the regulation of appointment of contract coaches by the sports council and engagement of auxiliary coaches at zonal level to promote the game at grassroots and spot talents for more young players.

“The meeting concluded by meeting with coaches to brief them on development plan for the association and encourage them to be more committed to improve their performance and rating of their players,” the statement read.

It would be recalled that the new board for various associations were inaugurated by the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports a fortnight ago at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.
