Ondo State Government will today commence a three weeks National Personnel Audit of schools across the state.

The data capturing exercise affects primary and the junior secondary schools both public and private.

The nationwide exercise is aimed at obtaining comprehensive and reliable data of children of school-going age at the basic education level.

Ondo State Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board, Mr Victor Olabimtan declared this while inaugurating the committee and the enumerators during the weekend.

He appealed to proprietors of private schools to cooperate as the exercise has nothing to do with taxation.

Olabimtan said the first phase of the 2022 National Personnel Audit will enhance effective implementation of the 2022 National Personnel Audit.

He charged the committee members to cooperate with UBEC and the state SUBEB for the success of the 2022 National personnel Audit for the benefit of schools in Ondo State.

While commending the leadership of UBEC for the introduction of the exercise which he described as a ”laudable feat”, Olabimtan said no nation can be developed without prioritizing education.

The chairman commended the Akeredolu led government for his priority attention on the construction and rehabilitation of schools across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Commissioner for Education, Mr Femi Agagu represented by Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr. Daodu Theophilous called on the stakeholders to take the exercise as a serious assignment and ensure the smooth implementation.

Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, Mr Dele Akinnagbe said Ondo State cannot afford to lag behind in view of the fact that education is our trade.

Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Ondo SUBEB, Mr. Segun Adeoye who is coordinating the programme said adequate security arrangement has been put in place for safety of the enumerators and other participants while transportation logistics will be adequately provided to access the interior and difficult terrains.

Members of the implementation committee include UBEC State Director, state Chairman of NUT, PTA, AOPSHON as well as the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools in the state.

The Universal Basic Education Commission, Abuja and the state SUBEB are jointly involved in the exercise ending on the 26th June.
