The Ondo State 2019 budget has been described as that which would, among other things, accelerate the completion of various ongoing projects and contribute greatly to the development of the Sunshine State.
Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Hon Gbenga Edema made the disclosure while speaking with The Hope at the Governor’s office in Akure.
While commending the Akeredolu-led administration for his impactful projects across the three Senatorial Districts of the state, he said the budget would take care of projects that are yet to be completed and would also accommodate new ones for the betterment of people of the state.
“For instance, at OSOPADEC where we have about seven billion naira budget, being a contract-awarding institution, about 80 percent of our revenue will go to capital projects and that’s about five billion naira.
“If we have the release of such amount of money, it would be judiciously injected into the completion of all the projects we have and we believe this will positively touch the lives of people in the mandate areas”,he said.
He stated that the Commission would continue from where it stopped last year, adding that it would complete some projects inherited from the past administration.
Edema mentioned some of the projects to include; the Aboto water project, promising that water would begin to run in the taps this month. Much would solve the issue of lack of potable water for residents of the area.
“Also, work would commence on the Aboto-Atijere Road this month, while the Araromi-Lekki Road would also be awarded very soon.
“It is certain that these projects, when completed, would in no small measure, positively impact on the lives of people of the state and also improve the socio-economic development of the state”, he said.
It would be recalled that the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), had earlier this week, presented the 2019 budget of N190 billion, christened ‘Budget of Advancement’ to the state House of Assembly.
