Ondo bye-election: APC, PDP candidates laud INEC over peaceful election
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) in the Akoko North-East and Akoko North-West federal constituency bye-election, Mr Ifeoluwa Ehindero, has applauded the conduct of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Similarly, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP), Mr Olalekan Bada, said that the Akoko North East Local Government which produced him as a candidate would win the Saturday by-election of the Akoko North East/ Akoko North West Federal Constituency.
Speaking to newsmen after casting his vote at Ward 4, Polling Unit 2, Oyin Akoko, Akoko North-West Local Government Area, Ehindero also applauded security agencies for professionalism, describing the election as peaceful.
“ The report we are hearing is that the whole process is peaceful and all have been professional and being of good conduct so far.
“The voters turnout have been averagely good and we hope it will improve before the end of the exercise,” he said.
Ehindero said he was optimistic that he would emerge victorious at the end of the exercise.
Bada, who voted at the Edo Ward 1, Polling Unit 12, said he was optimistic of victory.
“ This House of the Representative seat belongs to Akoko North East Local Government Area. So, people from other local government, Akoko North West Local Government Area, are just voting for us to win.
“ It is our turn to produce the next House of Representatives member,” he said.
The PDP, therefore, appraised the INEC for a peaceful and organised conduct of the election.
Also, the Director General, Mr Emmanuel Ade, Coalition of Nigerian Youths on Security and Safety Affairs, described the election as one of the most peaceful in the annal of history of the state.
Ade stated that the election was rancour-free and devoid of usual thuggery and ballot box snatching.
The director general commended candidates in the election for conducting themselves properly in orderly manner and for instructing their respective followers to toe the path of peace.
Also speaking, Dr Tunji Abayomi, a chieftain of the APC, said that the voting had been peaceful and with no reported hitches.
Abayomi, who voted at Unit 7, Ward 3, Oke Agbo in Akoko North-West Local Government Area, stated that early morning chill might have affected voter turnout.
He exprssed optimism that more voters would turout to cast there votes before the close of the exercise by 2:00p.m.
In his remarks, the Chairman, APC Campaign Council in the constituency, Mr. Muyiwa Asagunla, said that INEC officials had been up and doing.
Asagunla, who cast his vote at Unit 7, Ward 3, Oke Agbo in Akoko North-West Local Government area, said that he was impressed with the conduct of the election and voter turnout
