Farmers in the Central Senatorial District of Ondo State have expressed gratitude to the federal government for giving them fertilizer to boost their production.
Secretary of Ondo State Agricultural Commodities Association OSACA, Abel Ogunniyi expressed gratitude for the gesture during the distribution of fertilizers to farmers in the district in Akure.
Ogunniyi assured that the fertiliser would make their work easier and boost production.
The initiative, a gesture from President Bola Tinubu, provided fertilizers to 2,000 beneficiaries in the Central Senatorial District of Ondo State.
The Senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, SAN, distributed the fertilizers to farmers.
Adegbonmire, who was represented by his legislative aide, . Akinloye Bolarinde, at the distribution centre, stated that the fertilisers were meant for practising crop farmers, noting that Tinubu had directed senators to oversee the distribution.
Adegbonmire revealed that a total of 2,000 farmers in Ondo Central benefited from this year’s distribution, compared to only 600 last year.
The benefiting farmers are involved in the cassava, rice, tomato, pepper, and groundnut value chains.
With President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, Adegbonmire expressed his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
He mentioned that his team had contacted registered farmers and their associations to collect their details.
According to the President’s aide, a transformer was installed in the Igba community in Ondo East, and several kilometres of road were paved a few weeks ago.
These projects are part of his constituency work, with plans to dig solar-powered boreholes across the wards in the central district and to install solar lights.
He also highlighted other successful projects, such as the installation of solar lights in the Sijuade area of Akure Local Government, with the intention to extend such projects across the local government areas within the district.
He urged the benefiting farmers to make judicious use of the fertiliser and appealed to those who have not yet received any to be patient.
