Ondo College of Health Tech matriculates 1,100

No fewer than 1,100 students have been admitted into the Ondo State College of Health Technology, Akure for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Speaking at the 2023/2024 matriculation and orientation ceremony of the institution on Thursday, Representative of the State Governor and Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Prof. Simidele Odimayo stated that it is an opportunity for the matriculating students to acquire tertiary education in medical related field, noting that they should make good use of it.

He urged them to  pay maximum attention and go extra mile to succeed, adding that they should be the very best in their chosen career.

While congratulating their parents on the occasion, he stressed the need to keep supporting them through regular payment of their school fees and prompt visitation to ensure they are of good character and attentive to their studies.

Odimayo who commended the staff of the college for their good work, called on them to keep up the good work in ensuring that they bring out the best in the students.

Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Ministry of Health, Dr. Adeniran Ikuomola while congratulating the matriculating students, called on them to make good use of their time in the institution through hard work, stating that they should take their academics seriously.

Stressing the need for them to shun cultism, examination malpractices, hooliganism and other vices, he warned that those found guilty would be made to face the wrath of the law.

He assured of the Ministry’s support in ensuring that the institution achieve greater feat.

Provost of the College, Dr. Oluwole Emoruwa in his welcome address stated that 1,100 candidates were offered admission out of the 1,802 candidates that applied to study in the institution.

While noting that he is set to deliver a self reliant and efficient Health Technology institution which would be a force to reckon with among its counterparts in Nigeria, he explained that it has been known as a pacesetter in her pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and service to the society.

He stressed the need for the matriculating students to be consistent in academic activities, adding that they should shun behaviors that can impact negatively on them.

According to him, the college maintains zero tolerance for cultism, corruption and other form of hooliganism adding that “be modest, decent and exemplary in your dressing and approach to issues.”
