The Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, has declared that the electricity problem in the state would soon be a thing of the past.
The commissioner said since the electricity matters had been put on concurrent list, the government had been working to ensure that communities enjoy power supply for 22 hours.
Ademola-Olateju who stated this in Akure, also disclosed that the state was planning to have its electricity commission to regulate the power sector.
She said, “I know for sure that certain kilowatts of electricity will be generated by a private company, coming to Ondo State. I am bold to say, that by the time Governor Akeredolu will be leaving office in February 2025, based on our estimate, Akure and its environs will have 22 hours of power supply based on what we are expecting.
“I know, it will be a big relief for residents of this area. We are even considering our electricity regulation commission. So, everything is ready. ”
Ademola-Olateju also expressed the support of the state government to the nomination of the minister-designate from the state, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who was screened by the senate on Monday.
She said Tunji-Ojo would represent the state brilliantly at the Federal Executive Council, because of his antecedents in public service.
