Ondo state Ministry of Transport has constituted a group, “Ondo Easy Drive” saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that the major roads in the Akure metropolis are free.
The Hope investigations showed that some roads in the Akure metropolis were congested by traffic during certain periods of the day.
A recent report by The Hope had stated the traffic situation on the major Oba Adesida road due to the activities of traders peddling their wares along the popular road.
Major streets in the Akure metropolis are dotted with makeshift stalls wheeled by the roadsides in which traders peddle their wares despite the presence of the task force especially on weekends.
The newly inaugurated team had commenced activities to ensure free flow of traffic.
When The Hope visited the Oba Adesida road, our correspondent observed the team members wearing jackets with the inscription ” Ondo Easy Drive,” monitoring the traffic and ensuring that no vehicle park by the sidewalk.
According to a member of the team, Marshall Ayodeji, he said they have been working on shifts since their inauguration by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transport, Mr. Tobi Ogunleye.
He said that they also work on weekends.
