The Ondo State Police Commissioner, Mr Bolaji Salami, at the weekend, charged the newly promoted and transferred officers of the command to see their promotion and transfers as a call to higher responsibilities to serve their fatherland.
Salami spoke during a sentforth ceremony organised by the command for the newly promoted senior officers and those currently on transfer to other state police Commands, held at the officers mess in Akure.
Among the promoted officers are, DCP in-charge of the State Criminal and Investigation Department (SCIID), Mr Babaita who is promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police and the Assistant Commissioner of Police in-charge of Administration ACP Rose Chalom who is also promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
The newly promoted CP Babaita has been transferred to Force Headquarters to be in charge of Training, while DCP Chalom is now in charge of Administration at Bauchi state police Command.
Also affected in the transfer is Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Administration of the state police Command, DCP Ishola Akinyade who is to take charge of Administration at Sokoto state police Command.
Speaking, Salami commended the officers for their contributions throughout their stay in the state, urging them to continue to be good ambassadors of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).
He told them to always exhibit good characters which they are known for while serving in the command.
He said there is no way they will not be missed by the officers and men who worked closely with them, saying transfer is a routine exercise.
The police boss hinted that their impacts would be highly felt in the state, adding that the job of the police is a continuous one, saying “Soldier come soldier go barrack still remains”.
He explained that the outgoing DCP in-charge of Administration, Mr Ishola Akinyade and DCP Rose chelom carried out their jobs diligently during their tenure in the state.
Chairman of the occasion who doubled as the chairman of the Officers Mess, Hon Bayo Alarapon, while speaking at the event, described the outgoing officers as committed and reliable men who have distinguished themselves in areas of crime detection and control in the state.
He commended them for the good job they did while serving in the command, urging them to reciprocate such in their new areas of assignments.
The former local government boss charged them to continue to be worthy Ambassadors of the Nation and continue to discharge their lawful responsibilities.
He commended the police boss for taking out time out of his tight schedule to attend the occasion, saying it is a sign of good leadership.
Speaking, DCP Akinyade appreciated the command for putting a befitting send-forth party for him and other senior colleagues who are unavoidably absent during the ceremony.
He said his transfer to Sokoto State Police Command is a blessing in disguise, adding that he is going there to conquer and make his impact known as he had done in Ondo state.
According to him, police job continues irrespective of where someone is posted to, saying transfer in the police is a routine exercise.
