The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, has urged newly inducted police constables to embrace integrity, professionalism and respect for human rights as they commence service across the state’s 18 local government areas.
Speaking at the Command Headquarters in Akure, CP Lawal congratulated the officers on completing their basic police training, describing it as a rigorous process that signifies the start of a lifelong duty to protect and serve the people of Ondo State.
He reminded them that policing is a disciplined profession that requires honesty, accountability and absolute dedication to the law.
Officers were cautioned to discharge their responsibilities with diligence and to uphold the highest standards of conduct, both on and off duty.
CP Lawal particularly warned against corruption, extortion, aand misuse of social media, emphasising that posting or sharing official content while in uniform or on duty is strictly prohibited.
He cited the Nigeria Police Act, 2020, underscoring the consequences of actions that could tarnish the Force’s reputation.
He tasked the Okada Riders Association to ensure members’ vigilance, noting that criminals sometimes exploit motorcycles to commit offences.
The Commissioner disclosed that the new constables have been deployed across all local government areas to reinforce community policing and enhance public safety.
Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) were directed to mentor and guide the recruits to ensure smooth integration into their units.
Assuring continuous support from the Command, CP Lawal reaffirmed the commitment of the Ondo State Police to maintain law and order, prevent crime and protect lives and property throughout the state.
He concluded by urging the new officers to see their roles as a privilege and a responsibility, stressing that discipline and ethical conduct remain the pillars of effective policing.
