The Ondo East Local Government area of Ondo State has organised a workshop for primary and secondary school students, both in private and public schools, ahead of National Children’s Day, with a call to build a bullying-free generation.
The Chairman of the local government, Hon. Joshua Ogunduyilemi, said this at the workshop themed “Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation.”
The chairman, who was represented by his Vice, Hon. Seyi Oguntimehin, emphasised the importance of creating a safe and nurturing environment for children to grow and thrive.
He stressed that bullying in any form is unacceptable and can have long-lasting effects on a child’s emotional and psychological well-being.
He urged stakeholders to come together to promote empathy, kindness, and understanding.
“We should encourage open communication and the reporting of bullying incidents, while fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect,” he said.
The council boss explained that the community can empower children to stand up against bullying and help create a brighter, safer future for all.
According to him, the workshop served as a reminder of our collective responsibility to protect and nurture the well-being of children in Ondo East Local Government and Ondo State in general.
The workshop was attended by key stakeholders who expressed commitment to building a bully-free generation.
