Ondo East youth council pushes for ICT training centre, CBT in LG

In a strategic move aimed at fostering digital inclusion and equipping the youth with essential ICT skills, the Ondo East Youth Council, led by its President, Comrade Akinkuolie Tomide, recently held a meeting with the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT, Tomide Akinribido.

The meeting, which took place in Akure, saw the presence of other key executives of the Council, including the Speaker, Adumati Olalekan; Secretary, Akinkahunsin Gbenga; and Organizing Secretary, Adetimehin Olalekan.

A central focus of the meeting was the proposal for the establishment of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and ICT Training Center in Ondo East Local Government Area.

The Youth Council underscored the importance of such an initiative to address the existing digital divide, empowering the youth with relevant technological skills to thrive in the modern economy.

Additionally, the Council commended Akinribido for his efforts in facilitating the upcoming ICT training program in Ondo State, highlighting that such initiatives are vital for equipping young people with the skills necessary to succeed in the increasingly digital global market.

Comrade Tomide, during his address, stressed the need for active youth participation in the planning and execution of ICT-driven programs.

He further expressed the readiness of the Youth Council to collaborate with the office of the SSA on ICT to ensure the success of such projects.

In his response, Hon. Akinribido praised the proactive approach taken by the Ondo East Youth Council, affirming the government’s commitment to promoting youth development through ICT initiatives.

He assured the Council that efforts would be made to bring the proposal to fruition.

The meeting concluded on a hopeful note, with both parties expressing optimism about a productive partnership that will position Ondo East as a key player in digital skills and innovation.
